Three Gangsters Killed in Botched Meru Robbery

The three were in a company of four while they attempted to rob a businessman  when they were shot before a fourth managed to escape.

Speaking at the scene, OCPD Imenti Central Boniface Lisiolo said the businessman, who deals with Macadamia nuts, had just withdrawn Sh 950,000 which was meant to pay Macadamia nuts brokers before the thugs attacked.

The businessman raised alarm and people from the nearby market responded.

The gangsters in an attempt to flee the scene ran into Meru town where residents and police chased them and managed to kill three while one escaped with some of the money.

CREATE JOBS FOR THE YOUTH

Lisiolo added that one of them was killed 300 meters from the scene of the robbery but urged members of the public not to take the law into their hands.

Area residents are now urging the government to create jobs for the youth to prevent such crimes from taking place.

The residents say that most youths in the area have no jobs and thus the occurrence of such crimes.

One modified Patchet Sterling Rifle with two rounds of ammunition, SIM cards and a knife was recovered from the thugs.
