Three granted Ksh.4M cash bail for allegedly trafficking bhang worth Ksh.22M

Three suspects were on Thursday arraigned before a Nairobi court where they pleaded not guilty to trafficking in bhang.

The court heard that the three – Bornventure Ambani Lithema, Aritoh Ghonzagha Mike and Fredrick Oduor Ouma – on October 28, 2020 allegedly trafficked 762 kilogrammes of bhang valued at Ksh.22,860,000 at Kikopey on the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.

According to court papers, 19 bags of bhang each weighing 50kg were hidden inside 100 bags of maize that the accused claimed they were ferrying from Uganda to Voi, Taita Taveta County.

They were alleged to have been transporting the said bhang in a motor vehicle registration number KBZ 406 Mitsubishi FH white in colour.

The suspect were granted a cash bail of Ksh.4 million each.
