Three killed in Meru over grazing land conflict

Three people have been killed and another one injured after suspected cattle rustlers engaged herders in gunfire in Igembe North, Meru County over grazing land.

The rustlers are said to have engaged the herders in a gun battle after they refused to stop grazing their livestock on the land said to belong to Meru residents.

Three men are said to have been shot and died on the spot, while another one was injured.

The residents have expressed their dissatisfaction and lack of faith in the security system in the area, terming it ineffective.

Meru County Commissioner, Wilfred Nyagwanga, has promised the residents that the government will cater for the burials of the victims, adding that investigations will be done into the incident.
