Three killed in Mtito Andei accident

Three people were on Friday, March 10 morning killed and another one injured after a vehicle they were travelling in was involved in an accident along the busy Nairobi – Mombasa highway.

According to the survivors, the Mombasa-bound bus hit a motorcycle at Mtito Andei area of Kibwezi killing the rider and his passenger instantly before derailing and rolling severally.

“I had dosed off and was woken up by people screaming when the bus veered off the road. It later rolled and landed in a ditch,” said Pamela Jepleting, one of the survivors.

Kibwezi OCPD, Leonard Kimayo, said that those who lost their lives were the boda boda operator, his customer and the bus conductor.

One more bus passenger suffered serious leg injuries.

“The Chania Transport Company bus collided with a motorbike. The motorbike operator, his customer and the bus conductor lost their lives,” said Mr Kimayo.

The bodies of the deceased were removed to Makindu Hospital Mortuary.

The injured passenger is still admitted at the Makindu Hospital.
