Three family members killed in Nairobi – Naivasha highway accident

Three family members died on Wednesday evening after a car they were travelling in collided head-on with a matatu at Magina area on the Nairobi-Naivasha highway.

The 8pm accident occurred after the driver of a Toyota Probox, which was carrying the deceased and two of their relatives, recklessly overtook another vehicle and collided with an on-coming Nyena Sacco matatu.

“On reaching at the place of accident he (probox driver) improperly overtook another vehicle and collided head on with an on coming Toyota matatu reg no KCG 132J christened Nyena Sacco,” said police from the Lari Traffic base.

After the head-on collision, the probox Reg no. KBS 892A veered off the road killing three of the five family members on the spot.

Several people who sustained injuries were rushed to Kijabe Mission Hospital.

The bodies of the victims; three women aged 69, 49 and 48, were moved to Uplands Mortuary.
