Three killed in separate fire incidents in Meru

Three people including a one-year-old baby were killed on Thursday night following two separate incidents of fire in Meru.
At Kongoaceke village of North Imenti, a one-year-old baby died alongside her grandmother after huge fire razed down their rental house at midnight.
While confirming the incident, Kongoaceke area Chief Mercy Murithi, said locals who responded to the distress call however managed to contain the fire before it could spread to other houses.
In similar incident in Timau, another child was killed while the mother sustained serious injuries in a desperate attempt to save the child.
Locals have decried an increase in fire incidents in the area, with the most recent case being at Makutano area and mjini slums where about 34 houses were burned down.
