Three men arrested with ivory worth Ksh.1.5 million in Samburu

Three men have been arrested with 13 kilograms of ivory worth a street value of around Ksh.1.5 million in Maralal, Samburu County.

Confirming the incident, Samburu Central sub-county Police Commander Sylvester Rotich said the three were arrested on Sunday evening in Kirisia with four elephant tusks.

The operation was conducted following a tip-off from members of the public.

The police boss added that the four tusks indicated that the suspected poachers had allegedly killed two elephants.

He further stated that the trio is presently being detained at the Maralal Police Station awaiting arraignment.
