Three suspects were on Tuesday, February 7 arrested in Matulo, Webuye, Bungoma County after Flying Squad officers trailed them for alleged M-PESA fraud.

The police, who trailed the gang from Bungoma bus station, said others who were armed escaped during the incident.

The gang was using a motor vehicle, Mazda saloon model with plates registration KCB 036X.

Area OCPD, Charles Munyoli, said police piecing together evidence to ensure the thugs who escaped are captured and brought to book.

The car is being held at the police station pending investigation whether it has been used in other crimes elsewhere.

The M-PESA agent said the suspects asked to deposit Ksh 6,850 and after 20 minutes came back to deposit another Ksh 9,500.

One of the men bought airtime but did not leave the shop with fellow business people cautioning her to be careful as they could be conmen.
