Three other schools closed indefinitely after unrest

Three other schools have been shut down following cases of unrest this week.

This is despite a stern warning from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to all learners against involving themselves in criminal activities.

Students at Withur Boys Secondary School in Nyando reportedly went on the rampage on Monday night pushing the management to announce the closure.

Oriwo Boys and Kadiege Mixed Secondary School in HomaBay have also been shut down after two dormitories were razed down at the weekend.

“The school Board of Management is meeting today (Tuesday) to deliberate on the way forward for the boys,” Oriwo Boys Principal Maurice Okal said.

According to him, the management decided to send all students home until further notice to avert possible destruction of school property.

Homa Bay County Police Commander Marius Tum said four students from Oriwo Boys were arrested and are being interrogated at Oyugis Police Station over the fire incident .

Area MP Adipo Okuome condemned the two incidents and urged students to concentrate on their studies.
