Three suspected conmen beaten by mob after man robbed of Ksh.320K

Three suspected conmen escaped death by a whisker on Tuesday afternoon in a daylight robbery gone wrong.

According to a report seen by Citizen Digital, Fredrick Otieno–the victim–had come from a bank when he was accosted by three people.

Mr. Otieno said he was carrying around Ksh. 320,000 when two men and a women approached him.

The three emerged from a black Toyota Voxy of registration number KBJ 633L that had been parked nearby.

They introduced themselves as Safaricom employees before one of them grabbed the money and boarded the vehicle.

The vehicle is then said to have taken off towards Uhuru Highway at breakneck speed.

Some bodaboda riders who had witnessed the robbery pursued the vehicle and intercepted it at the University Way roundabout.

The three suspects, later identified as Ahmed Sharrif, 30; Veronica Musau, 33; and Jeremiah Murimi,34, were then forced out of the car.

Several videos shared on social media showed the three huddled in a ditch as a mob pelted them with stones.

It took the intervention of traffic police officers at the roundabout to shield the three, but not before they were thoroughly beaten up and their clothes torn.

The three were rushed to the Mbagathi Hospital with varying degrees of head injuries, according to the report.

The getaway vehicle whose windshield had been smashed in was towed to the Central Police station.

No money was however recovered during the incident.
