Three suspected gangsters arrested with police uniform

Police in Maragua, Murang’a County on Wednesday evening arrested three suspected gangsters with police uniform, several rolls of bhang and stolen electronics.

The gangsters are said to have been disguising themselves as police officers and harassing residents in the process.

According to the locals, the gangsters were blatantly extorting money from them and raping women.

Speaking immediately after the sting operation, Maragua OCPD John Ondiki said the operation was conducted after a public outcry from the residents who raised concerns over their safety.

“We have managed to recover from the thugs police uniform. They have been terrorizing the residents for quite a while now but we have managed to arrest them with co-operation from locals,” said the OCPD.

The OCPD further said the thugs acquired the uniform from a fugitive who stole them from prison before breaking out.

The locals are now calling on the authorities to beef up security amid rising security threats.
