Three suspected gangsters were shot dead on Sunday along Ladhies Road in Kamukunji, Nairobi.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the three suspects were in a gang of four on a mission to commit a crime.

The three were gunned down after allegedly refusing to surrender when they were accosted by police.

The fourth suspect managed to escape during the fierce shootout.

“A combined team of police officers based at Kamukunji, acting on a tip off from the public on notorious criminals on a mission to commit crime managed to intercept them along Ladhies road where they were challenged to surrender but instead shot at our officers,” said the DCI.

“A fierce shoot out ensued whereby three suspects were fatally wounded as the fourth one escaped towards Muthurwa Estate.”

Police recovered two pistols, a pen knife and four rounds of ammunition from the suspects.
