Three suspects pretending to be sales agents charged with conspiracy to defraud
Three suspects were arraigned in a Nairobi court on Monday for allegedly defrauding members of public.
The three; Jeremiah Murimi Mwaura aged 36 years, Victoria Muthoni Mutunga, 36, and Albert Oyugi Ayumbo, 34, were charged with conspiracy to defraud contrary to section 317 of the Penal Code.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the accused, together with others who are still at large, were conning unsuspecting members of the public of their monies claiming to be employees of a mobile services provider conducting promotion on their products.
“During their arrest, a Motor vehicle Reg. No. KBL 247X branded StarTimes JYDS, Assorted mobile phones, T-shirts among other items were recovered from them,” said the DCI.
“We urge members of the public to be on the lookout for such fraudsters as we pursue the individuals who escaped our dragnet.”
