Three terror suspects shot dead, 1,600 bullets, bomb-making materials recovered in Mombasa

Three suspected terrorists were Tuesday morning gunned down in a dawn raid by more than 20 police officers in Likoni, Mombasa County.

A multi-agency security team from the Anti-Terror Police Unit (ATPU) and the elite Recce Squad raided a house where the suspects were staying, killing the three and arresting seven other people.

“Those arrested are currently undergoing investigative interviewing,” said the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

According to the DCI, police recovered an assortment of weapons including a G3 rifle, grenades, over 1,600 bullets and bomb-making material.

Also recovered were 68 air rifle pellets, nine balaclavas, military/police uniforms, military holsters & porches, rifle oil, one GPS
six machetes and three knives.

The suspects were said to have been planning several attacks in Mombasa including Mombasa International Airport.
