Three traffic police officers were Monday evening arrested for allegedly soliciting bribes from motorists along Nyerere Road in Nairobi.

The officers; Shem Maragia, Shiada Oson and Babagana Misigo had been deployed on patrol duties within Serena and Panafric areas when they were nabbed.

“They were accosted by special assignment team from Nairobi Area officers along Nyerere Road where where they were allegedly soliciting bribes and doing traffic duties,” reads a police report on the incident.

A hunt is, however, underway for one of the three officers; Shem Maragia, who managed to escape.

The remaining two officers were detained at Capital Hill Police Station alongside another officer identified as Joseph Wachira, who was apparently not deployed there but was in report office day shift.
