Three women shoplifters arrested in Embu
Three women were on Tuesday arrested after they were nabbed on CCTV cameras trying to shoplift at boutiques in Kerugoya and Embu towns.
The shoplifters, who operate as a gang of four, were caught on camera entering a clothing shop masquerading as shoppers only to start stashing expensive dresses inside their clothes.
According to Leeds collection Embu branch manager, Victor Gitonga, two of the women had been caught on live camera again in May this year shoplifting from the outlet’s Embu branch but escaped arrest.
Two of the ladies were identified as Alice Karwithia (an elderly woman) and Irene Kananu (a middle-aged lady) and have been on police watch list since last year when the first incident was reported.
They are linked to a cartel based in Meru.
