Tickets on Sale Ahead of Mashemeji Derby

The tickets for the match dubbed Mashemeji Derby go for Sh300 from the Terraces and Sh600 for VIP and are available at Kenya Cinema, outside City Stadium, Nyayo Stadium Police Station, outside Riadha House and Langata Road bus station opposite Nyayo Stadium.

According to AFC Leopards Organising Secretary Timothy Lilumbi, 17,000 tickets have been printed for the clash which has for years stood as the biggest one in Kenyan football.

Last season’s meeting between AFC Leopards popularly known as Ingwe and Gor Mahia also called Kogalo ended with a 3-1 win in favour of the former in the first leg and a 2-2 draw in the second leg.

WHAT ARE THE ODDS?

It will be interesting to see which team comes out top in the Sunday afternoon clash, though pundits have vouched for Gor Mahia, who share the top position in the KPL log with Western Stima with 12 points.

AFC Leopards currently sit 9th of the log with 8 points and have played one match more than Kogalo.

The odds in past derbies have, however, been against the in-form team and this may be the hope that Ingwe, who are currently stuttering both financially and on the pitch, may be clinging on.

Ingwe will be looking to put last weekend's 1-1 draw against Thika United in Mumias behind them as well as forget, at least for 90 minutes, the financial woes facing the club as they move to post a serious challenge for the KPL title they lost won in 1998.

Gor Mahia come to the match from last weekend's elimination from CAF Champions League by AC Leopards in DRC.

The KPL defending champions have however made known their shift in focus to the premier league and intentions of retaining the title by posting a 3-1 win against KCB in a match played on Wednesday.

The match will be played at Nyayo Stadium starting 1500 East Africa Time.
