NHIF launches cover for vulnerable children

Tindiret Constituency has rolled out a medical cover for vulnerable children and adults in the area.

According to MP Julius Melly, the program will help the less fortunate in society get quick and easy access to healthcare.

“We have identified extremely poor families, orphaned children, the elderly and those living with HIV/AIDS but with no source of income. We will give them priority to enable them get treated whenever they fall sick,” he said.

Mr. Melly added that the move is part of efforts to achieve global health coverage expected for vulnerable groups such as the elderly, poor and the youth.

He was speaking  during a meeting with over 1000 orphans at Got ne Lel secondary school in Maraba.

The MP noted the importance of focusing on vulnerable children so that they remain in school and gain skills to alleviate poverty in future.

Tindiret, a hardship area characterised by rugged terrains, has very few people insured under the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF).
