Police officer in Nairobi murder case to know his fate on April 5

By Dzuya

A police officer who was found guilty of murder in Nairobi’s Githurai estate will know his fate on April 5.

A pre-sentence report on Titus Ngamau alias Katitu from probation officers was presented to the trial judge on Wednesday.

On February 7, Katitu was found guilty of killing Kenneth Kimani Mwangi five years ago.

Purity Wanjiku Mwangi, mother to the deceased, has urged the court to give Katitu the maximum sentence allowed by law.

“Such a sentence will give the accused time to regret his crime and will deter others from committing a similar offense,” Ms. Mwangi said in a victims impact statement report presented to the court.

She adds that the brutal murder of her son has caused her untold pain and anguish.
