Tobiko to issue direction on rogue medic after Citizen TV’s exposé

The Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko has vowed to take action against a perceived gynaecologist Mugo wa Wairimu accused of raping patients.

In his Facebook post after Citizen TV’s exposé on #DoctoredAbuse and #DaktariMbakaji, Tobiko said he will issue further direction on the matter on Monday.

His sentiments come amid growing indignation from Kenyans who have called for the arrest of Mugo for the alleged rape.

Kenyans on social media, using the hashtags #DoctoredAbuse and #DaktariMbakaji claimed that it was unfortunate that in a country governed by the rule of law, an individual can operate an illegal clinic and carry out heinous crimes without being apprehended.

There have been reports that Mugo was arrested two months ago and his clinic closed, though it remains puzzling how he went back into operation.

The detailed exposé, done by Citizen TV’s Lulu Hassan and Evelyn Wambui took the country into the dark side of clinic operations at Mugo wa Wairiumu’s Prestige Health Clinic located in Zimmerman and Githurai 44 where clips show him allegedly raping his patients after sedating them.

The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board has discredited Mugo’s clinical operations saying he is neither a doctor nor a gynaecologist.
