Top cops Kanja, Yego, Kinoti praised for swift action at 14 Riverside

Interior CS Fred Matiang’i has commended all Kenyan men and women in uniform who he said worked round the clock during the 14 Riverside Drive attack to ensure that normalcy is restored.

Speaking at the scene after completion of the operation on Wednesday, CS Matiang’i lauded the multiagency operation terming as well coordinated and organized.

“The number of lives saved during this operation is testaments that God truly loves this nation and the commitment of our security forces.” said Matiang’i.

“They have done a fantastic job and they have done us proud,”

The Interior CS was however keen to note that the success of the operation followed the very able leadership of Mr. Douglas Kanja, the GSU Commandant, Mr. Musa Yego, the Flying Squad Commander and the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti.

Kinoti notably never left the scene for over 15 hours actively engaged in the operating that saw hundreds evacuated from the buildings at 14 Riverside Drive.

CS Matiang’i announced that the area is an active crime scene and has been cordoned off.

The CS moved to assure Kenyans that all is well and that the country is safe.

“The country is safe, we are secure and we are ready to defend our country. We will not bend and we will not be intimidated by thugs whose interest is to hurt our way of life,”

“We are ready at all time to ensure our people of Kenya are safe and this is evidence of how well our security forces are prepared to deal with such situations,” he said.
