Top officials suspended over fuel mix-up in Kisumu

Kisumu’s Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) depot manager Eng. Herman Munga has been indefinitely suspended following a fuel mix up at the depot two days ago.

Assistant depot manager Allan Engote has also been suspended alongside two others including a controller and a laboratory officer.

Sources at the Kisumu plant told Radio Ramogi that the suspension letters were dispatched from the KPC headquarters in Nairobi.

The four will remain on suspension for two weeks and a new management team is expected to temporarily take over running of the busy fuel depot.

Petroleum CS John Munyes on Wednesday visited the depot where he announced that a team had been set up to investigate the fuel adulteration that occurred at the depot.

The CS had warned that disciplinary action would be instituted against those found culpable over the mix up.

On Tuesday, about 15 trucks that had loaded fuel at the depot were recalled following reports that they had been loaded with water instead of petrol.
