Tottenham Striker Emmanuel Adebayor Granted Leave After Suicide Attempt

This comes after the striker revealed that he contemplated suicide many times over a family feud.

In his third Facebook post on Thursday, the 31-year-old Togolese International said the rift in the family had grown so deep that one of his brothers held a knife to his throat.

Adebayor said arguments with his brothers Kola and Peter (who died in 2012) escalated to the point that he thought about committing suicide.

“Many times I wanted to give up. Ask my sister lybao Adebayor how many times I have called and was ready to commit suicide,” read part of the post.

“I kept these stories for years. But if I die, no-one would know my story, no-one would learn from it. Some people say I should keep these stories private, but someone has to sacrifice himself, someone has to talk about it.”

The striker published two other Facebook posts earlier this month, the second one claiming that another brother Rotimi had stolen mobile phones belonging to teammates at a leading French football academy.

This would also mean that Adebayor will miss the post season tour to Malaysia and Sydney, Australia.
