Tough questions for Karua in Waiguru election petition

Narc Kenya leader Marth Karua was on the spot over claims that her agents were barred from accessing polling stations in the 2017 elections.

Ms Karua, during the hearing of a petition against Anne Waiguru’s gubernatorial win, claimed her poll agents were blocked from about 200 polling stations and could not ascertain whether there was ballot stuffing at any of the stations.

While testifying, Karua said IEBC officials barred her agents from accessing some polling stations while Jubilee agents and even strangers were granted access at unofficial hours between 4-6am.

On Tuesday however, she was put on the spot during cross-examination by IEBC lawyers who queried how she managed to garner more votes in the stations where her agents were barred from accessing.

She was also put to task as to why none of her agents filed any affidavits to confirm that they were denied access to the polling stations.

Karua was also taken to task to explain how and why there was not a single complaint from other agents in the 651 polling stations and why other agents never saw the stuffing of ballots as she claimed.

Governor Waiguru accused Ms. Karua of basing her rigging claims on pure speculation.
