Tragedy as student drowns in River Sagana

Police are searching for the body of a Dedan Kimathi University student who slipped and fell into River Sagana on Sunday evening.

The student along with 34 of his colleagues had gone to Sagana area on a camping trip and was exploring the river when he fell in the river and drowned.

Efforts by locals and the police to trace his body proved futile due to the shortage of divers that has slowed down the process.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Sagana Assistant Chief Josephat Kabinga and Kariti MCA Joel Waguru requested for more divers to help locate the student’s body.

The incident comes barely one month after a 13-year-old girl slipped and fell into the river.

The girl had gone to a popular resort near the river with members of her family when the unfortunate incident happened, prompting the deployment of professional divers to find her body.
