Trans Mara clashes: Police launch manhunt for six suspects

Police in Trans Mara West, Narok County have launched a manhunt for six suspects believed to be fueling interclan clashes along the war prone Nkararo-Enoretet border.

Speaking to Citizen TV after a security meeting held in Kilgoris, area Deputy County Commissioner Hassan Noor Mohamed said police officers both in uniform and civilian are searching for the six men in connection with the gruesome killing of a Form Two student along the volatile border.

Noor called for the immediate arrest of Mzee Raimas Ole Shira from Isiria clan and Lekekei ole Kimilisi from Irwashi Nkishu clan in Transmara who are among the six suspects reported to be on the run.

Meanwhile, 19 people are still detained at Kilgoris police station over the recent clashes that left one dead and several injured as investigations continue.

For over four decades there has been an unresolved land tussle between the two Maasai clans who occupy the region.
