Brookhouse School to resume online lessons on Thursday

Brookhouse School is set to resume online learning for students on Thursday pending the hearing and determination of a petition filed by the Brookhouse Parents Association (BPA).

Virtual learning had been halted for pupils in Kindergarten to Year 4 after the parents moved to court seeking orders for the lowering of fees.

On Wednesday, Justin Weldon Korir ruled that the lessons resume pending a ruling on the matter on June 8, 2020.

In a press statement, the Brookhouse Board of Directors welcomed the ruling saying learning would resume on Thursday and will follow the normal timetable.

“Whilst we are saddened that such a matter must be handled through the court, the school is resolute in its commitment to ensure the matter is resolved appropriately, fairly and conclusively, with a focus on the best interests of all our children,” said Rabih Saab who chairs the board.

“The most immediate concern for the school was our desire to see the court reinstate live virtual learning for our youngest students in Year 4 and below. This has been achieved and lessons for all classes in ELS to Year 4 will recommence on Thursday 14° May and will follow the normal school timetable.”

The school further reminded parents of students from ELS to Year 13 to clear any fees due by May 18, in line with the existing 50% payment outlined by the court.

The board noted that the fees will be cleared regardless of whether the opportunity for virtual learning is accessed by parents.

The school said it will also continue to accommodate the younger learners whose parents would prefer to receive homework packs rather than attend live virtual learning.
