Trans Nzoia woman arrested for beating son to death

A woman in Trans Nzoia was on Tuesday placed in police custody for questioning after the death of her teenage son following a domestic dispute.

The suspect, Janet Indimuli, is reported to have hit her 13-year-old son on the head with a wooden object on the night of December 11 when the teenager returned home late after being sent to the shops.

The teenager is alleged to have engaged in an argument with the suspect on Monday night after being accused of going to play with friends instead of going to the shops and returning immediately as ordered.

Upon being hit on the head by a wooden plank that had been intended to be used for firewood, the boy was rushed to the Kitale Referral hospital before succumbing to his injuries on Tuesday morning.

Trans Nzoia county commander Samson Ole Kina confirmed the incident and said that the body of the deceased was moved to the Kitale referral hospital mortuary.

Ole Kina also warned parents against infringing the rights of children saying that his office would prosecute those found to be breaching these rights.

“Children have rights too and my administration will not hesitate to to act upon anyone who violates the children’s rights,” he said.
