Transport paralyzed as Kibos Bridge swept away

Transport was paralysed in parts of Kisumu county following a heavy downpour which caused the Kisumu-Kibos bridge to be swept away.

The bridge connects Kisumu East, Kisumu Central and Miwani.

It was closed after officials warned of heightened risk of accidents due to high intensity of the rains.

This caused panic among commuters and residents who constantly use the bridge as a shortcut to their destinations.

The residents have appealed to the area MP Shaakil Shabir to move with speed and resolve the situation since the bridge saves them from wasting time in traffic.

The bridge also serves sugar factories located in the region which use it to transport the produce to other parts of the country
