Treasury: We Will Not Pay Anglo-Leasing Again

National Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich says the government was ready to challenge the matter in court.

He said that this will only happen if they lose a case in court.

Rotich further defended the government's decision to pay Ksh 1.4B to other Anglo leasing related companies saying the government had no choice.

Speaking on the sidelines of 2014 leasing convention at the Kenya Monetary Studies, Rotich lamented that the government struggled to pay the 1.4 billion shillings to businessman Anura Perrera who is linked to firms in the controversial Anglo Leasing contracts.

He says that the government plans to use 3 billion shillings in leasing in the next financial year.

Rotich said that the government will lease 1,500 vehicles to the police in a bid to boost security countrywide

Rotich also said that they would also lease helicopters for security seasons.
