Trending Photos from Madaraka Day celebrations at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru
The Jubilee government and CORD coalition held their Madaraka Day celebrations on Wednesday in two cities lying 160 kilometres apart.
While the government celebrated the historic day at the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru, CORD held a public rally at Uhuru Park in Nairobi signifying a rather piffling victory after a week-long fray pitting the coalition against Jubilee legislators and Prayer Beyond Boundaries Ministries which had claimed to have booked the event earlier, and the police who had promised to shut their rally down.
The government decision to move the event, which is usually held in Nairobi, to Nakuru is in line with their aim to hold two of the three public events to the counties in the spirit of promoting devolution.
Some of the leaders present at the Nakuru event including Senate Speaker Ekwe Ethuro, National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi, National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale, Senate Deputy Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen among others.
