Trial looms as ex-KTN journalists clash over Mercedes

A court battle between two former KTN employees over a stolen Mercedes Benz vehicle may end up in a full blown trial after the out-of-court settlement seem to hit a snag.

This emerged after the court noted that the accused, Aaron Ochieng, has still not made any further payment for the car despite being jailed.

Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi had cancelled a Ksh.300,000 cash bail and directed that it be part of the clearance amount of Ksh.1million to be paid to Joy Doreen Biira.

When the case came up for a mention, it emerged that Ochieng’ through his advocate had moved to the High Court where the decision by lower court to cancel his bail was set aside and cash bail reinstated.

He is charged with stealing Biira’s Mercedes Benz worth Ksh.2.8million two years ago.

Ochieng’ had earlier apologized to the complainant in court, a move that perhaps he thought would convince her to withdraw the charges.

The case has been set for hearing on September 12.
