TSC transfers six non-local teachers attacked by students

Six non-local teachers at Chalbi Boys High School in Marsabit who were attacked and seriously injured by students on Monday have been moved from the school.

Police said the students attacked the teachers as they prepared for the start their morning classes which resulted in the school being closed indefinitely.

Teachers Service Commission announced on Wednesday that the teachers had been transferred. The school’s deputy principal has also been tapped to take charge of the school.

According to the Nation, a witness recounted how the besieged teachers ran to nearby Maikona Girls Secondary School to seek protection but the rabid students jumped over the fence in hot pursuit, caught up, pounced and beat them up.

“Were it not for the teachers from the girls’ school, one of the assaulted teachers would not have survived,” said the witness who sought anonymity for safety reasons.

“The teachers from the other school called the police and the students ran away on noticing the police vehicle.”
