Tullow Kenya Donates Ksh 20M To Fight Hunger

This follows a biting drought in the area that is now threatening the lives of Turkana residents

The move follows an appeal by local leaders for the supply of humanitarian aid for those facing hunger

More than half of the population in Turkana is said to be staying without food due to the drought.

The donation will be administered by the Kenya Red Cross Society under the supervision of the County Government of Turkana.

Speaking after handing over the 20 million cheque, Tullow Kenya’s Country Manager Martin Mbogo said that Tullow was working with Turkana County Government and the Kenya Red Cross.

Mbogo said the donation will target about 50 early childhood education centres operating in the County

Tullow Kenya has struck vast oil deposits in the area, the first in the country

Turkana Deputy Governor Peter Lokoel pledged that the funds will be well spent on their targetted programmes adding that they will not entertain misappropriation of funds.
