Tullow Oil strikes more oil in Turkana

British oil Exploration Company, Tullow Oil has discovered more oil in Turkana County.

The firm confirmed that it found more oil at the Etom Two Well in block thirteen after encountering a hundred and two metres of net oil pay in two columns.

According to Tullow Oil’s exploration director Angus McCoss, this discovery shows there is further potential in other under-explored areas in the same block.

Tullow has also reported that a flow test on the Ngamia oil field produced more oil from five zones.

In January, Tullow Oil had announced that it had discovered the presence of possible oil deposits in the North Kerio Basin.

This was after the completion of exploration drilling at a well christened Epir One.

In a statement, Tullow said oil and wet gas were found over a 100 metre interval.

Commenting on the discovery, McCoss said the Epir-One wildcat well proved the existence of a working oil system in the North Kerio Basin.

He further said exploration activities would be considered in the North Kerio Basin once data collected from the well is analyzed.

The well was drilled to a final depth of three thousand and fifty seven metres.

This followed yet another announcement from the British firm on plans to drill its first exploration oil well in Elgeyo Marakwet later this year.
