Tunoi tribunal adjourns to Wednesday
The tribunal investigating bribery allegations against Supreme Court Judge Philip Tunoi has postponed its proceedings to Wednesday, after holding sittings for only a few minutes.
Tribunal chair Sharad Rao was forced to adjourn the session after Judiciary Ombudsman Kennedy Bidali, who was supposed to be questioned, as a witness failed to show up.
Bidali will now appear before the panel next week Tuesday, with other witnesses set to appear on Wednesday.
The Sharad Rao-led tribunal expressed displeasure at the constant adjournments.
The tribunal will on Friday rule on the matter of Nation newspaper, after it raised issue with a story published by the paper last week concerning the proceedings.
Last week, the tribunal directed editors from the Daily Nation to appear before it and answer questions raised over their reportage of the proceedings – when Kidero’s personal aide John Osogo appeared before it.
A story on the daily suggested that Osogo and Geoffrey Kiplagat, Tunoi’s accuser, had discussed Tunoi’s ruling. The editors and journalist who covered the tribunal will now appear before it on Tuesday.
