Turkana to import cheap unga from Uganda

The County Government of Turkana is planning to import cheap subsidized maize flour from neighboring Uganda to alleviate the shortage being experienced in the county.

The county’s Trade CEC Member, Robert Loteleng’o, says he is meeting with Uganda businessmen to discuss on possibilities of importing the cheap unga.

Loteleng’o also says it has been impractical for the subsidized unga to reach Lodwar with the Ksh 90 price tag due to the transportation cost .

He says in Lodwar Town, the available unga costs Ksh 150 for a 2kg packet.
