Turkana women aspirants decry threats by male counterparts

More than 30 women aspirants in Turkana County have protested threats by some of their male counterparts for failing to give up their political aspirations.

Speaking during a meeting with current political leaders at Eliye Springs Hotel in the county, the women aspirants said their male counterparts threatened to rape or brand them as prostitutes if they don’t step down for their benefit.

Aspiring Member of County Assembly for Turkana East Zainab Lokaale said women have been underestimated for a long time by men but noted that this time they are ready to face them in the ballot.

They women have vowed to face the men on the ballot, emphasizing that most of them have acquired knowledge and education and are therefore ready for the challenge and to fight for their right to contest for political positions.

Turkwel Member of County Assembly aspirant, Ms Patricia Kebo, assured that they would soldier on and seek nomination.
