Police are suspected to have shot two residents of Kakamega on Ekero Buyangu road.

Idris Nambwayo and Hamisi Were were on Monday evening travelling on a motorbike when a police car in pursuit of another vehicle approached them.

It is at this point that the officers allegedly shot one of them by mistake.

According to one of the victims, the bullet was supposed to hit the tyre of the Toyota Wish that was being pursued.

“Police were chasing after another car, I don’t know what was contained in there, then suddenly they shot at us.

“A bullet hit me and the person who was seated in the middle. The motorcycle rider was so shocked that we almost fell off the bike,” he said.

Local residents rushed the two to St. Mary’s Hospital Mumias as the two cars sped off.

Area OCPD Peter Kattam said that they have launched investigations into the matter.
