Two arrested after 41-year-old man beaten to death in Siaya

Police in Rarieda, Siaya County, are holding two suspects in connection with the brutal murder of a 41-year old man.

Joseph Otieno and Joram Ochere were arrested after they were suspected to be behind the killing of Michael Ochieng Odhiambo.

According to area Assistant Chief Martin Jakoyo, the deceased succumbed to injuries on Sunday morning following a brutal beating.

The administrator stated that the deceased’s elder brother identified the suspects as the killers saying he had earlier tried to rescue Mr. Ochieng from the attackers.

After the beating, the deceased was reportedly taken home by his elder brother where he succumbed to the injuries.

According to the assistant chief, the suspects were close friends of the deceased and had also been working together. The cause of the disagreement between the three, however, remains unclear.

The body of the deceased was moved to Bondo Sub-county Hospital mortuary as investigations into the matter continue.
