Two vandals arrested as police intensify patrols along SGR

Two suspects were on Thursday arrested for allegedly vandalising the railway line in Kibwezi, Makueni.

Makueni County Commander Mohammed Maalim said the two were caught stealing water pipes from the old railway.

According to Maalim, the arrest brings the total number of people arrested in connection to vandalising the railway line over the last two months to nine.

He noted that police would intensify patrols along the Standard Gauge Railway to curb the rising cases of vandalism.

While launching the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) on May 31, 2017, President Uhuru Kenyatta warned that he would okay execution of railway vandals whom he termed as economic saboteurs.
