Two arrested for cheating in KCSE exams

Police in Kisii County on Monday arrested two people for impersonation during the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Educations (KSCE) examinations.

During a routine inspection at a privately registered centre, a Kenyan National Examination Council (KNEC) official’s suspicions were raised when he stumbled on an older looking candidate who had not written his name on the exam paper.

At the same centre, the officer also noted a female candidate had also not written her name on the examination paper.

After interrogating the two, it emerged that the ‘male candidate’ was a teacher at a county national school and was sitting the exam on behalf of the female student.

Confirming the incident, the Kisii County Criminal Investigation Officer Justus Burudi told Citizen Digital that the two ‘students’ had registered for the KCSE exams as private candidates at an institution in Sameta sub-County to conceal the irregularity.
