Two arrested for stealing Ksh.50 million transformers

Police on Wednesday seized 43 stolen transformers with an estimated worth of Ksh.50 million from a house in Maili Nne Town in Eldoret.

Confirming the incident, Eldoret West OCPD Samuel Mutunga said that two people have been arrested in connection with the incident and will be arraigned in court once the police conclude their investigations into the matter.

“We were tipped off by members of the public who grew suspicious of activities in the house where the transformers were seized. I want to say that the police will crack down on all saboteurs,” said the police boss.

On his part Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) Security Operations officer in North Rift region Paul Nyaga appealed to residents to report vandalism of property or theft of transformers and copper wires.
