Two arrested over Tana killings
Police on Tuesday arrested two men in connection with the killing of a man at Garsen, Tana River County on Monday.
The incident led to clashes in which one man was killed and six houses torched.
According to Tana Delta County Commissioner Mike Kimoko, tensions had been high in the area before the incident after pastoralists claimed that one of them had disappeared without trace under suspicious circumstances.
Kimoko said that on Monday, Karisa Mwagandi was shot dead by alleged pastoralists who were herding livestock for the suspects who are in custody.
He added that another person was also shot on the thigh and is nursing injuries at Malindi General Hospital.
The commissioner, however, appealed for calm as a contingent of security officers drawn from regular and administration police have been deployed in the area to prevent the conflict from escalating further.
