Two arrested with bhang worth Ksh.12M in Thika

Police officers from Makongeni Police Station in Thika, Kiambu County, on Sunday confiscated bhang worth Ksh.12 million.

The officers who were on patrol intercepted a Toyota Noah which was allegedly delivering the consignment to a distributor in Thika sub-county.

According to Kiambu County Police Commander Adiel Nyange, the officers noticed the vehicle parked on the roadside along the Thika-Garissa road, near Kisii estate, but the driver sped off upon noticing the police.

This then led to a chase and the vehicle was finally intercepted at Kisii Estate where eight and a half bags of bhang were recovered from the car and two suspects arrested.

The police boss said the two suspects, after being arraigned in court, would be taken to Migori to show police the source of the bhang.

The commander also led an operation in Juja during which heroine and bhang worth Ksh.700, 000 was confiscated and 13 suspects arrested.

The main suspect is believed to be connected to a staff at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) who is said to have been aiding the sale.

Other items recovered during the Juja raid were phones, T.V sets, military boots and vehicle pressure pumps, all believed to have been stolen from the general public.

Nyange has assured the residents of Kiambu that drugs and criminals in the county would be firmly dealt with.
