Two arrested for selling fake KDF recruitment letters

Police in Eldoret have arrested two men suspected of selling fake Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) recruitment letters.

The two, who are reported to have conned various residents millions of shillings, were arrested in connection with being in possession of counterfeit letters and targeting unsuspecting individuals desperate to join the KDF.

According to Eldoret West OCPD Samwel Mutunga, the incident was witnessed during the 2017 recruitment process.

Mr. Mutunga added that the two suspects had  claimed to be under the leadership of a certain Major Okello, who still remains unknown.

“All these documents are fake. The other day, a senior officer from the KDF was on the media saying no calling letters would be received, other than from the recruitment centers. Now these guys are making money by deceiving young men,” said the police boss.

“They have their own vehicles, this is a cartel. The accomplice to one of them has fled, the other is claiming to be dealing with Major Okello whom we do not know,” he added.

The two suspects are expected to be arraigned in court to answer to the charges.
