Two men were buried alive Njira Ya Gichaga village in Limuru, Kiambu County when a pit latrine they were fixing fell on them.

St Johns Ambulance volunteers rushed to the scene of the accident, and they worked to rescue the two men.

A third man, who was also working on the pit latrine, escaped unharmed.

Elsewhere on the Nairobi-Namanga road, a police officer was killed after he was run over by a lorry.

Eyewitnesses say the lorry veered off the road, crushing the police officer who was on foot.
