Two charged with trafficking 5 Burundi nationals

Two suspects were on Monday arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi charged with trafficking five Burundi nationals whom they allegedly planned to exploit.

Kasso Abdallah Ebrahim and Bigirimana Hassan appeared before Nairobi Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi and denied the charges.

According to the charge sheet, the accused persons deceived the five Burundi nationals between March 1, 2018 and April 21, 2018 at Parklands estate in Nairobi

They faced three other counts of trafficking persons, interfering with travel documents, facilitating and aiding entry into Kenya contrary to the law.

In the third count, the two are said to have confiscated passports of the five Burundians so that they could traffic them.

The two were also charged with facilitating and aiding entry into Kenya contrary to Section 7 of the counter Trafficking in Person Act on similar dates and place.

They were each released on a Ksh.1 million bond or Ksh.500,000 cash bail.
