Two children burnt to death in Kisumu

Two children died on Friday night after a fire broke out in their house in Lower Milimani area in Kisumu.

Kisumu Town Senior Chief Location Willis Onyona said the two children, aged 5 and 6 were burnt beyond recognition.

Speaking to Citizen Digital on Saturday morning, Onyona said the two siblings were asleep during the 9.30pm incident.

Onyona says they suspect the fire was caused by an electric fault as a result of illegal connection.

He further said the children’s parents were sleeping in a different house when the incident happened.

The chief said the inferno was put out by the county fire brigade team, adding that police and Kenya Power officials also visited the scene to investigate.

The two bodies were taken to Jaramogi Oginga Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.
