Two children were among four people who perished in a grisly road accident along Thika-Naivasha highway.

The vehicle they were travelling in is said to have been speeding when its tyre bust.

The car landed in a ditch as passersby rushed to the scene to try and rescue the passengers.

The passengers were travelling from Nyahururu to Thika for a burial ceremony.

Those injured were rushed to Igegania Level 4 Hospital but four of them had to be transferred to Thika Level 5 Hospital as they were in critical condition

Police have launched investigations to ascertain what may have triggered the incident.

Residents have however appealed to the relevant authorities to erect speed bumps so drivers can minimise their speed along the road to avert more deaths.
